And they are finally on their way!! 
In the wee hours of this morning, our first (and largest!) batch of WYD2023 pilgrims departed from Melbourne to begin their ‘Footsteps of Jesus’ journey via the Holy Land, on their way to Lisbon!
The farewells began at the Wednesday evening mass, where our pilgrims were called up to receive a special blessing and presented with their official St Kevin’s WYD t-shirts. This was then followed by a ‘Bon Voyage’ celebration with family, friends and well-wishers in the foyer, organised by our Social Group. The group then departed for the airport from the church around midnight via a chartered bus. Despite the late hour, the energy and enthusiasm of our pilgrims was to be seen to be believed! It possibly had something to do with the fact that on arrival at the airport they found out they had the privilege of sharing the flight with Most Reverend Bishop Tony Ireland!
To this group that’s already on their way and the pilgrims to follow, we wish you all a happy and safe journey and ask that you remember us in your prayers, as we remember you in ours!!
