The St Kevin’s Flower Ministry is carried out by a small, yet enthusiastic, group of volunteers who seek to serve the St Kevin’s community and glorify God by creating skilful and graceful flower arrangements to enhance worship and other church sponsored activities
The Flower Ministry will set up ALL weddings at St Kevin’s church, however there may be times when they are not able to do so. In these instances, the bridal couples will be informed at the time of booking.
The Flower Ministry kindly reminds everyone that they are dedicated volunteers and not trained florists and thank everyone for their courteous cooperation
When to book:
Bookings for decorations for weddings at St Kevin’s will only be accepted if made no later than six weeks prior to the wedding
Bridal couples are not obliged to choose the Flower Ministry to decorate the church on their wedding day. However, please note that as of 14 February 2022, unless the Flower Ministry is unable to attend to their wedding (which has happened under extremely rare circumstances in the past), no other party is allowed to perform this duty at St Kevin’s parish. This is an executive decision made by the leaders of the Parish
How to book & pay:
All bookings for decorations for weddings at St Kevin’s are to be made via the Parish Office.
A choice of a Wedding Package, as well as the appropriate payment for that package, needs to be made at the time of booking for the Flower Ministry, i.e., this needs to be made and paid for at least six weeks prior to your wedding.
All payments are to be made to the Parish Office with your names, wedding date and choice of Wedding Package on the ‘Wedding Package Booking Form’ available to download here or at the Parish Office.
Cost of flowers:
Please note that the cost of the Wedding Package DOES NOT INCLUDE the cost of flowers. The cost of flowers depends on their seasonal availability and on the suppliers. The Flower Ministry always passes on the exact price quoted and never increases the quote for a profit.
Please note that since Covid, all flower suppliers need a minimum of four weeks to organise an order as most flowers are imported.
The bridal couple will be informed of the cost of flowers by 4 four weeks prior of their wedding day. At that time, full payment of the flowers needs to be made to the Parish Office so that the order for the flowers can be completed and assured to be received in time for their wedding.
Example COST OF FLOWERS ONLY
Flowers costs are set by market price and seasonal availability at the time of your wedding and are subject to change accordingly. For example, a fully decorated church, including pews, bridal chairs and kneelers cost just under $500 as at 15 January 2022.
Arch At The Entrance Door:
Please note that the Flower Ministry also offers a decorated arch at the entrance of the church. It is usually decorated with white silk flowers, white silk organza and a mix of natural foliage and fake vines.
The cost starts at $300 depending on the cost of foliage and their availability as well as the time spent building it. This is the most time-consuming decoration offered by the Flower Ministry.
The final cost of the arch can only be available after the order for the foliage has been made. The cost includes the building/creation of the arch + the cost of the natural foliage.
This item is separate from the wedding packages on offer.
If you choose to have this as part of the decoration on your wedding day, please indicate this when you book via the ‘Wedding Package Booking Form’ available here or at the Parish Office.
The cost for the arch also needs to be paid at the Parish Office.

Cost of Decorating the Church (Not Including the cost of the flowers):
The Flower Ministry offers three choices of Wedding packages:
Wedding package number 1; cost $250
- Altar flowers (2 large floral arrangements at the back of the sanctuary, 3 small floral arrangements by every statue inside the church a row of flowers in front of the altar and a large floral arrangement by the lectern.)
- flowers and silk organza on every second pew
- bridal chairs and kneelers’ decorations
Wedding package number 2; cost $150
- Altar flowers (2 large floral arrangements at the back of the sanctuary, 3 small floral arrangements by every statue inside the church, a row of flowers in front of the altar and a large floral arrangement by the lectern.)
- pomander balls on every second pew
- bridal chairs and kneelers’ decorations
Wedding package number 3; cost $125

- NO decoration for pews
- bridal chairs and kneeler’s decorations
Type and Colour of Flowers:
All flowers are white with green foliage.
The choice of flowers and style of floral arrangements depend on the seasonal availability.
Sharing the same wedding day and/or weddings that are at least three days apart:
All wedding parties who share the same wedding day are to equally share the cost of the church decorations. Similarly, weddings that are within three days of each other are to also share the same floral arrangements. Long lasting flowers will be used to ensure freshness at all weddings.
However, in fairness to the Flower Ministry, the wedding party who books and pays the earliest is given the priority of the choice of Wedding Package and whether there is an arch.
The altar flowers, bridal chairs and kneelers are decorated in the similar way and value for every wedding regardless of the pews and arch choice.
Weekday Weddings:
Please note that weekday wedding parties need to contact the Flower Ministry via the Parish office regarding their availability on weekdays.
Setting Up Before & Cleaning the Church After a Wedding:
The Flower Ministry team will put away:
1. the decorated bridal chairs and kneelers
2. the pew decorations – both pomanders and/or flowers and silk organza
3. the arch
only when they have been set up by the Flower Ministry team and not by another party
