Recap: Lenten Pilgrimage to Ta’ Pinu Shrine in Bacchus Marsh

Last Saturday 26th March 2022, over 100 parishioners along with Fr.Anil participated in a pilgrimage to the Ta’ Pinu Shrine in Bacchus Marsh. It was wonderful to see parishioners of all ages from the littles ones right up to grandparents making this pilgrimage together.

We departed the church around 9:40 in two buses and started the day by praying the Rosary together as a parish family on the buses. When we arrived at the Shrine, we gathered together at the foothills of the shrine to pray the Stations of the Cross. We walked up the hill alongside the life-size statues that were placed along the steep paths leading us on to the top of the hill; the walk in the hot sun mimicked Jesus’ journey to Calvary. It was a meditative experience. Following the stations, we celebrated the Mass. It was a lively celebration with many altar servers, choir members, readers and Eucharistic ministers and many parishioners who made the pilgrimage. We also prayed the  Act of consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary for Russia and Ukraine.

After Mass, we shared a lovely lunch together; biryani prepared by Philip and Valerie D’Costa. We also had dessert! Cake, was prepared by Judy Fonseca and and an Indian sweet, Kalakand, made by Warren Peters. Other parishioners also brought snacks along to share. Fruit, juice and water was also provided and we thank all our parishioners for their generosity. Lastly, on the bus home we enjoyed bingo, trivia and singing hymns together.

Overall, it was a prayerful, meditative and spiritual uplifting day highlighted by the strong sense of community and journeying together in this season of Lent. We look forward more opportunities in the future, hope many more can participate in it and grow in our faith journey.
