Holy Thursday initiates the Paschal Triduum, the period which commemorates the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus. It began at St. Kevin’s with the evening Mass of the Lord’s supper. The Mass recounted the establishment of the Jewish feast of Passover; and it commemorated the institution of the Eucharist, the institution of the priesthood, and the washing of the feet. John’s placement of the footwashing conveys his belief that the real presence of Christ is found not only in the Eucharist but in service
